About Throngdrol
The Thongdrol.org is dedicated in memory of our father Ngodup Wangdu, who has worked his entire life for the benefit of our community in exile particularly Tibetan children education. Through this, we would like to spread the message of peace and loving kindness as advised by our root lama His Holiness the Dalai Lama to all sentient being. The YouTube channel ‘Thongdrol‘ contains compilation of commonly recited Tibetan prayers for people to have an easy assess to prayers in video and audio formats. The website features Thongdrol podcasts of teachings by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and other spiritual lamas. The podcast is available on Apple podcast, Google podcast, Amazon podcast, Spotify, JioSaavn and other major podcast services.
Thongdrol is a Tibetan word meaning liberation through seeing. It can be anything that motivates a person to pursue a spiritual path leading to liberation from the cycle of suffering. The website Thongdrol will act as a bridge between people who want to seek a path of liberation and a vast repertoire of Buddha’s teachings including the concept of impermanence, interdependence, and empty nature of the reality.
The logo a flaming sword and a pecha (scripture) represents འཇམ་དཔལ་དབྱངས་, the bodhisattva of supreme wisdom Jampalyang (Manjushri). Jampalyang is the embodiment of the knowledge and wisdom of all the Buddhas, traditionally depicted with a a flaming sword in his right hand, representing the realization of transcendent wisdom which cuts down ignorance and duality.
The Manjushri is the birth symbol(འཁྲུང་རྟགས) of our late dear father. We offer our prayers to Manjushri to bestow us with power of wisdom to dispel our ignorance and achieve Bodhisattva mind for the benefit of sentient being. Through this image of Manjushri, we would like to continue to remember our father and walk on the path that he had shown us for the welfare of others.
We thank you for visiting our website and, also being kind and supportive to us all the time.
